What does 如し mean?
如し is a Japanese auxiliary meaning “like” or “as if (literary)” in English. It is written as 如し in kanji, ごとし in hiragana, and gotoshi in romaji. This word is part of JLPT N1 vocabulary.
NoteLiterary. Follows a noun + の or a verb + が (光陰矢の如し = time flies like an arrow). 如く is the adverb form (以下の如く = as follows).
